INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON " WILDLIFE AND CONSERVATION SCIENCE: ADVANCES & OPPORTUNITIES
On January 24, 2024, Om College of Science, in partnership with the Center for Wildlife and Conservation Studies (CWCS) at Bhakta Kavi Narsinh Mehta University, Junagadh, successfully hosted an international seminar on wildlife conservation science at the Om College of Science and PG Center in Junagadh. This seminar delved into the latest advancements and opportunities in the field. Notably, the Government of Gujarat awarded the university the title of "Center of Excellence for Wildlife and Conservation Studies" in 2022-23, which officially commenced operations in October 2023. This esteemed center serves as a premier academic and research institution in Gujarat, focusing on the science-based conservation of wildlife and natural resources in the state, while also fostering the development of skilled human resource for conservation research and sustainable development.
The chief guests at the international seminar included Prof (Dr.) Chetan Trivedi, Vice- Chancellor of Bhakt Kavi Narsinh Mehta University, Junagadh, while the key speakers comprised Dr. Barbara Williams from the Center for Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, Dr. Julia Bevins, an independent wildlife veterinarian from Anchorage, Alaska, USA, Dr. Nisith Dharaiya, Director of the Center for Wildlife and Conservation Studies at BKNMU, Junagadh, and Shree Jaydeep Sinh Vaghela, a knowledgeable and visionary trustee of Om Education Campus, Junagadh, all gracing the event with their presence
