National Science day Visit at Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Junagadh
OM College of Science and PG Centre, along with OM Club of Science, VIPNET, orchestrated a visit to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to commemorate "NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY" on February 28, 2024.
Om College of Science & P.G. Center, in collaboration with VIPNET, arranged a visit to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), with 31 students and 6 faculty members in attendance. During the visit, participants explored various departments, including Chemistry, where Dr. Nirav Joshi explained the chemical tests conducted in the laboratory and their significance in identifying evidence against criminals. They also visited the Toxicology Department, where Dr. Ankit Nariya provided insights into the analysis of biological evidence such as blood, saliva, semen, hair, tissue, and other bodily fluids. Furthermore, they explored the Physics Department and Finger Print Department, which focus on analyzing physical evidence related to firearms, ballistics, toolmarks, and fingerprints. The experts from each department elaborated on their testing procedures and how the results contribute to uncovering evidence. They also discussed the process of maintaining fingerprint databases, eliminating prints to exclude innocent individuals from suspicion, and classifying and analyzing prints and marks to establish connections between crime scenes and suspects.
